Tiny Titans is an all ages book that contains humor, action, and jokes.

Introduction:

The Teen Titans have been one of DC Comics big success stories these past few years. The hit cartoon show really helped this comic reach out to a younger audience and even inspired other cartoon shows to follow its unique art style. Tiny Titans is the latest incarnation of the Teen Titans geared for an even younger age bracket.

Story:

The comic book is broken up into short stories and activity pages, with the stories being about three to four pages each. Some of the stories seemed to be focused toward a boy or a girl audience. The content is very simple, with Ravager remarking about the discovery that her father is the new principal of their school, Sidekick Elementary, and Beast Boy getting a new dog as a pet. Interspersed are activity pages such as puzzles that will allow the reader to take part in the comic fun as well as read it.

Review:

I gave this comic to some nine and ten year old students and had them read it. The most interesting comment came from a newly budding comic fan who said, “It doesn’t have much comic history, but it wasn’t bad.” Many of the kids thought is was interesting, but maybe a little to young for them.

My estimation was the same and I could see this comic as good choice for kids under nine. The thought that came to me is that this comic was kind of like frosting. A little taste here and there is great, but a whole bucket would be way too much. Everything about this comic screams “CUTE!” The art is drawn in a kid friendly style with a lot of smiles, the stories are low key and some even don’t have any words. In the end there was almost too much cuteness for me, but I could see your little ones getting a kick out of it.

Conclusion:

This comic was a lot of fun and I imagine it could be a good bonding moment between you and your child. That said, I think it could have reached a further audience if the stories were longer and had more humor and less cute. If you’re looking for an easy pick for your little one to pass the time with, than this comic is a good bet. For something a little meatier, try one of the other Johnny DC comics that are based on the current television properties.
