What has been the most exciting part of putting these kinds of projects together?
Well, at the macro level we really love doing this for the fans. When I say fans I'm not talking about Ray Wall Band fans but for the comic and movie fans of which I am one. Most bands have fans that only look at them and their music. I think our fans look at us yes, but importantly they look through us to the super-heroes, comics, and sci-fi that they love even more. So we want to be a true vehicle for that and get fans excited about experiencing their fictional and comic passions in a new way as related to music. On the creative side, I have to say the X-Men project was amazing on every level. Writing and recording it was intense but what stood out was bringing the acting sequences and X-Men characters to life within the song. This is something a bit beyond the scope of normal music and put us in the realm of almost film making.
Where can fans get your music? Do you have any performing dates lined up yet?
Fans can keep up with us right now on our MySpace page where they can get autographed CDs from us. iTunes and the other major downloaders also have our music but we prefer personal contact with fans offering our music through email at xmensong@gmail.com and on MySpace.Right now we are concentrating on building the appropriate recording and distribution model for what we do. We will let you know about any dates in the near future.
In Conclusion
Here is a quote from Wizard Magazine in their letters section responding to a letter from Ray Wall about, "The Fantastic Four Song.""Loyal Wizard readers know we ripped Ray Wall and his Ray Wall Band (not to be confused with "Ray Wall and the Ray Wall Experience") a good one - not once, but twice - in Wizard #171 for their "Fantastic Four Song." But I gotta hand it to the guy, he's persistent. He demanded coverage with a barrage of calls and emails, and, well, now he's gotten shout-outs three issues running. My mother would kill for that kind of coverage. Sure, we mercilessly bashed his ode to Read Richards and then stared at the music video, astounded such a thing would exist, but he's been a good sport...and for that, much respect. And at the end of the day, I'd rather hear "The Fantastic Four Song" - which I now know all the lyrics to, thank you very much - before hearing the Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps" ever again in my entire life. The autographed copy of "The Fantastic Four Song" shall remain proudly on my wall, right above my 7-inch record single of "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)." Thank you, Ray Wall Band and sign us up for your newsletter. Now, on with the Magic Words."
Whether you think this venture is silly or fantastic, you can be sure it is at least interesting to check out. Be sure to give his website a glance.
